Mark it Read – Breaking the Silence Podcast: Bonus Episode
Tie Domi, Former NHL Player
This year, our Mark it Read campaign has been spotlighting inspiring individuals with dyslexia, sharing their powerful stories of overcoming challenges to achieve success. To wrap up Dyslexia Awareness Month, we’ve saved something special. We’re thrilled to present an exclusive episode of the Mark it Read podcast featuring CTV Your Morning co-host Lindsey Deluce in conversation with former NHL player Tie Domi!
Tie Domi, known for his passion, toughness, and grit, played sixteen seasons in the NHL, most of them with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, before releasing his memoir Shift Work in 2015, not many knew that he had dyslexia.
"I was a gifted athlete. I played every sport, but I outworked everybody. That was the thing. I was always the hardest worker. I didn’t like losing. But in grade 9, when we won a championship, that felt like a major victory," he shared.
Despite the challenges of dyslexia, Domi focuses on the positive: "Dyslexia never held me back from anything."
