Join Dyslexia Canada and Support the Launch of the New Ontario Language/Français Curricula!

Dyslexia Canada is excited to announce an opportunity for you to contribute to the activities surrounding the launch of the new Ontario language/français curricula.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate educators and individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of students in our province. Join our team as Content Creators or Support and Outreach Specialists and contribute to the development and implementation of the new language and français curricula.

Content creator 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Developing resources for teachers to support implementation of  the new Ontario language/français curricula such as professional development presentations, handouts, live and recorded webinars, videos, and information sessions

  • Ensuring the materials are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with the curriculum expectations

  • Incorporating feedback from teachers and partners to continually improve materials, ensuring the content best matches Ontario educators’ needs

Requirements: 

  • Extensive training in structured literacy, with an understanding of classroom and school applications

  • Experience with universal screening tools, and using screening data to support equitable practices in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports

  • Experience in creating compelling written, audio, and video training materials


Support and Outreach Specialist 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Responding to teachers' inquiries about the new Ontario language/français curricula promptly and effectively through email, phone, or video chat

  • Facilitating and leading online discussion groups and virtual drop-in sessions to foster engagement and exchange among teachers regarding the new Ontario language/français curricula 

  • Taking the lead in outreach initiatives with school boards, and providing professional development and support upon request

Requirements:

  • Currently working in an Ontario publicly funded school board or First Nations school. 

  • Training in, and experience using a structured literacy approach in the classroom 

  • Experience with administering, scoring, and interpreting data from evidence-based universal screening tools

  • Available for a minimum of 10 hours/month from August 2023 to June 2024

*All applicants must also be available to attend a  4-day training and orientation session  in Toronto from August 8th to 11th. Dyslexia Canada will cover transportation and accommodation expenses for selected candidates.

We are seeking applications from candidates proficient in English, proficient in French as well as those proficient in both official languages, as the materials and support will be provided in both English and French.
