2025 Dyslexia Canada Educational Excellence Awards

Dyslexia Canada is pleased to announce the nominations for the 2025 Educational Excellence Awards are now open.

Do you know an outstanding educator, administrator, or a program/initiative making a remarkable difference in supporting dyslexic students in a Canadian public school?

These awards recognize individuals and school communities demonstrating exceptional dedication to ensuring students with dyslexia receive the support they need to thrive. Honorees may include educators, principals, administrators, librarians, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and others committed to fostering inclusive and equitable education. Schools and school boards/districts that have launched outstanding programs or initiatives to support dyslexic students are also eligible.

The ideal nominees working in a publicly funded setting will have:

  • Raised awareness of dyslexia within their school communities

  • Championed evidence-based reading instruction for all students

  • Advocated for early screening of dyslexia and reading challenges

  • Implemented impactful interventions to support student success

This is your chance to shine a spotlight on those who are making a real difference! Submit your nomination through the online form and help us celebrate the dedication, innovation, and leadership driving change for students with dyslexia.

Nominations will be open from February 14 - March 14, 2025

Selection Criteria

Nominate yourself, your team, or extend a nomination for someone else. Applications undergo a thorough evaluation by the Dyslexia Canada team, considering the following criteria:

Commitment to Dyslexia Support: Showcased unwavering dedication to assisting dyslexic students within the school community. Could you elaborate on your contributions to raising awareness of dyslexia within your community?

Impact and Results: For individual nominees, the depth and breadth of their contributions to supporting dyslexic students. While for publicly funded schools, school boards, or organization nominees, the comprehensive impact and effectiveness of their programs or initiatives. The subsequent questions can serve as a guide:  In what ways have you supported the adoption of scientifically evidence-based reading instruction for all children? What efforts have you made to encourage early screening for dyslexia and reading challenges? How have you worked to guarantee that students receive impactful and effective interventions for their reading needs?

Collaborative Approach: Evidence of collaborative teamwork among staff, emphasizing collective efforts in cultivating an inclusive environment for dyslexic students.

Sustainability and Scalability: Development of programs or initiatives with sustainability and scalability, ensuring enduring impact and potential for broader implementation.
