Dyslexia Canada, with support from the local charity Boots and Hearts Barn Burner, is screening the acclaimed film "The Truth About Reading" in Barrie on Nov. 9. This eye-opening film, from Emmy-winning director Nick Nanton, examines the profound impacts of illiteracy and sub-literacy while also offering hope for positive change. Doors open at 6:30 pm, the event begins at 7:00.
The movie will be followed by a short discussion by panellists who include Alicia Smith, the executive director of Dyslexia Canada, Dr. Nicola Jones-Stokreef MD, a developmental pediatrician, and Amanda Harrison, an educator and literacy advocate.
