Join The Literacy Collaborative (BC Edition) for our book study on Next STEPS in Literacy Instruction: Connecting Assessments to Effective Interventions by Susan Smartt and Deborah Glaser. This professional development guide helps educators translate universal screening data into actionable, evidence-based reading instruction. We will connect the content to BC’s K-4 Learning Progressions.

- Thursday, September 3: 9:00-10:30 a.m. – Chapters 1 & 2 (Introduction and Next STEPS framework)
- Thursday, September 17: 4:00 p.m. – Chapters 3 & 4 (Phoneme awareness and phonics)
- Thursday, September 24: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 5 (Fluency)
- Thursday, October 1: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 6 (Comprehension)
- Thursday, October 8: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 7 (Vocabulary)
- Thursday, October 15: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 8 (Bringing it together)
All are evening sessions, except the first session.
A Zoom link will be sent to everyone who is registered before the first session. The same link will be used for all sessions.
