Join The Literacy Collaborative (BC Edition) for our book study on Next STEPS in Literacy Instruction: Connecting Assessments to Effective Interventions (2nd Edition) by Susan Smartt and Deborah Glaser. This professional development guide helps K–6 educators translate universal screening data into actionable, evidence-based reading interventions. We will connect the content to BC’s Learning Progressions.

- Thursday, September 3: 9:00-10:30 a.m. – Chapters 1 & 2 (intro and next steps framework)
- Thursday, September 17: 4:00 p.m. – Chapters 3 & 4 (phoneme awareness and phonics)
- Thursday, September 24: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 5 (fluency)
- Thursday, October 1: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 6 (comprehension)
- Thursday, October 8: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 7 (vocabulary)
- Thursday, October 15: 4:00 p.m. – Chapter 8 (bringing it together)
