Nominate an exceptional educator!

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Dyslexia Canada Educational Excellence Awards.

Each year, Dyslexia Canada’s Educational Excellence Awards recognize those making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with dyslexia. These awards celebrate educators who embrace and advance evidence-based practices and work to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn to read.

Across public education systems, there are teachers, administrators, specialists, and school teams quietly transforming literacy outcomes. They advocate for early screening, implement structured literacy approaches, support families, and help students build confidence alongside skills. The Educational Excellence Awards exist to shine a light on this important work and to celebrate educators who bring Dyslexia Canada’s mission to life every day in classrooms and schools.

This is an opportunity to pause and recognize the people around us. So often, educators pour their energy into supporting students without seeking recognition themselves. That is why we invite colleagues, administrators, parents or caregivers, and community members to step forward and nominate someone whose impact deserves to be celebrated.

Who are we looking to recognize?

We are seeking nominations for educators in public education who:
  • Champion evidence-based reading instruction
  • Promote early screening and intervention
  • Create inclusive learning environments for students with dyslexia
  • Advocate for systemic change within their schools or districts
  • Support students and families with compassion and expertise
If you know an educator whose dedication has changed the trajectory of students with dyslexia, this is your opportunity to help tell their story.

Help us celebrate excellence

Great educators don’t always seek recognition, but their work deserves to be seen. These awards offer a chance to say thank you to the professionals who go above and beyond for students with dyslexia and to highlight what is possible when research-informed instruction meets passionate advocacy. As these awards are about lifting up the work others see and appreciate every day, self-nominations are not permitted.

We encourage you to reflect on the educators in your community who are making a difference and submit a nomination today.

Together, let us celebrate the champions of literacy and learning.

Before you begin your nomination, you will need two letters of support for your nominee(s). Letters should highlight what the nominee has done to promote structured literacy in the classroom, universal early screening, evidence-based intervention, and/or support for colleagues. Ideally, letters should come from individuals who have been directly impacted by the nominee’s work, including students, parents, colleagues, or district or provincial leadership.

You may also want to gather additional supporting documents that demonstrate the impact the nominee has had on their school population.
