NOTE: Due to strong interest and feedback from the community, we have expanded the program and organized the event into two consecutive sessions.
Dyslexia Canada welcomes educators, families, and community members to join us for discussion and learning about the Right to Read and educational equity in Saskatchewan. The event will be broken into two parts, and attendees are welcome to attend either or both sessions.
The first part will provide important context. We will discuss key changes happening in literacy instruction nationally and in Saskatchewan, and hear updates from representatives of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission on the Equitable Education for Students with Reading Disabilities report, as well as from representatives of the Ministry of Education on changes underway in Saskatchewan schools.
Following a refreshment break, the second session will provide more detail, focusing on understanding dyslexia, what it is, and what students need to succeed. We will explore common myths and misconceptions, outline what effective support looks like, and share practical strategies that families and educators can use to support students at home and in the classroom.
